Water Supply

Flowing towards a sustainable future

India has 18 % of the world’s population but only 4 % of its water resources making it among the most water stressed in the world. If we continue to consume water at the current rate, India will have half the water it needs by 2030. At least 50 to 100 litres of water per day is necessary to meet the basic physiological and hygienic needs of an individual. People who are restricted to a per capita supply of 20 litres per day are at risk of severe health issues. Rural population have lower economic resources compared to urban inhabitants. This has a direct impact on their water consumption patterns. Urban water management typically involves the establishment of a network of underground pipes to provide water supply, sewerage, and drainage services.
